::PARIAH::
As with many things creative, QueerBOIS love independent and brilliant films.
Pariah is the story of Alike, (pronounced ah-lee-kay), a 17-year old African American teen who lives with her parents and younger sister in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Fort Greene. Alike is not only a talented student, she is also impressive in the written and spoken poetic world. Alike is quietly but firmly embracing her identity as a young lesbian, both with and without support. Challenges and encouragement lay all around her as she brilliantly and sometimes painfully weaves in and out of what awaits.
Named a 2011 Official Selection Film Selection, Pariah is a must see for families of all varieties.This film is not just about coming out, it’s about growing up and daring to be Free…
